Wendell High School
Today the Lady Trojans played their second game against Bliss in as many days. The Lady Trojans were nerves coming into today’s game, knowing that they had to win to have the solid 3rd place lead in the conference. The beginning of the game started out slow for the Lady Trojans, and they were facing a new formation from Bliss. In the 13th minute of the game #14 from Bliss scored a great goal from the right side of the field that went into the left upper corner of the net. The goal did not deter the Lady Trojans from continuing to play their game and started the count attack. Wendell had great break aways and shots on goal but just could not get one in the net in the first half. At the start of the second half the goal for the team was set and Wendell came out fighting. They pressured every ball and made Bliss work for any breakaways in the 55th minute of the game, Tatiana Martinez took a shot from right outside of the box and went into the upper left side of the goal. These types of goals have become her trademark. Wendell continued to make runs deep into Bliss’ half. Wendell fought for every ball and made quick throw-ins to keep Bliss on their toes. In the 72nd minute of the game, Nadia Guadarama headed the ball to Kyla Teixeira who used her fast speed and scored a goal, which proved to be the game winning goal. Today proved that you keep fighting till the end and never give up. Today we also saw the largest crowds at the girls game. Thank you to all who came out today. Next Wendell will travel to Ketchum to take on Community School on Monday, October 2, who are in first place. Then on Tuesday, October 3 to take on Filer and then finally October 5, which is our senior night, to take on Buhl for the last game of the conference. October 7th starts districts. Come on out and support our Lady Trojans soccer team.
